Thank you to all who attended and to all who made the events
possible: Amanda, Michael, Tim and our models and volunteers.
CHAPEAU patrons and CHAPEAU creations filled both floors of Bistrot
Margot for our Return to Camelot event. Tables brimming with
beautifully created millinery confections adorned the second floor,
where Timothy Long, Curator of Costume at the Chicago Historical
Society, presented a wonderful lecture on hats in the 20th century, with
a special focus on Jacqueline Kennedy.
The Elegance of Jackie at Hotel Fairmont Chicago was an afternoon tea
complete with incredible Jackie-inspired pastries, designed especially
for CHAPEAU by the Fairmont pastry chefs. The Chapeau milliners
assisted eager hat-lovers in trying on
and choosing from a variety of lovely creations. Informal hat
modeling added an elegant touch.

A juried exhibition at the Beverly Arts Center
featured 11 hats by members of CHAPEAU |
Among the many CHAPEAU creations in this exhibit were vintage trimmed
cloches and fedoras reminiscent of the Jazz Age by Amy Stirk.
Marjorie Marshall’s contributions included an unusual masked bridal
headdress and her hat titled ‘Paddington.’ ‘The Kiss’, a humorous homage to Hersheys, was Laurie
Kennard’s contribution along with ‘Jurassic’, a dinosaurian
inspired evening hat.
The opening reception was April 29th, 6:00-9:00pm.
The exhibit ran from April 29 to May 28, 2005.
The Beverly Arts Center is located at 2407 W. 111th St. in Chicago.
